Captain jack sparrow is played by Johnny Depp and his costume designer is named Penny Rose who is a much-renowned costume designer in the film industry. First of all, the designer argues that nobody likes a clean pirate and that is a fact because from time immemorial, pirates had always been portrayed as dirty people, therefore penny rose put this to practice in captain jack sparrow.Moreover, Jack wears a red bandana which is tied to hold a dreadlock wig which he wears on his head and also has a few objects that he wears together with the wig and bandana which he had collected throughout his travels. These objects were inspired by Johnny Depp's' study of the nomads whom he insisted that they were similar to the dirty pir ates that he was going to portray in the film (Gawne 112). Also, in his decorations, he wears kohl around his eyes, an ancient eye cosmetic which has similar uses to charcoal used as mascara.Furthermore, this process has been a collaborative one because Jonny Depp also got involved in the designing of the costumes where he was presented with items and he chose the ones that he felt fit his character. For example, when he wore a Spanish lace on his wrist which he has a story behind it that he acquired it from a woman he has had sexual relations with. Also, he has a hoard of rings on his fingers of which all has a story behind it to portray the character of a captain who has had a lot of travels and experiences worth preserving (Gawne 110).
